Rick was always a hard-nosed, but skill player that could do a lot of things for you. He could fight for you, but he could put the puck in the net. He was a guy that you could count on every night. He worked hard every night. He was a good leader. - Dave Brown

He is the all-time leader in Philadelphia Flyers history with 1,817 penalty minutes and would not back down from a fight with anyone. Rick Tocchet was the epitome of tough, blue-collared Flyers hockey.

Combined with his sheer toughness, Tocchet also displayed a tremendous scoring touch for most of his tenure with Philly. On three separate occasions he led the team in goals for a season, and in two consecutive seasons (1989-90, 1990-91) led the Flyers in overall scoring.

He is one of only 12 players to record over 500 points as a Flyer and earned 232 goals and 276 assists in his 11 seasons with the Orange & Black.

A three-time NHL All-Star, Tocchet helped guide the Flyers through two Stanley Cup Final appearances, including an amazing 11 goals and 10 assists for 21 points in 26 playoff games in 1987.
